King Promise Biography

Gregory Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise, is a Ghanaian Afrobeats, Highlife, and R&B musician from Nungua in Accra Ghana. He was born on August 16, 1995. The names of his parents are Francis Newman and Angela Quaye.

King Promise attended De Kings Academy for his basic education and Nungua Senior High School for his secondary education. He then continued his education at Central University in Ghana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

King Promise’s career started shining in 2016 when he released his first single “Thank God,” featuring Fuse ODG. Promise gained significant attention with his hit song “Oh Yeah” in 2017. He went on to release other popular tracks like ‘Selfish,’ ‘CCTV‘ featuring Sarkodie and Mugeez, and ‘Abena,’ which topped the charts and helped him build a dedicated fan base.

He then released his first album titled “As Promised”, on July 5, 2019. The album featured some international artists such as Wizkid and Simi. He won several awards from Ghana Music Awards, 3 Music Awards, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, 4Syte TV Music Video Awards, and many more.

In 2021, King Promise released another popular track, ‘Slow Down’, which became a top hit on the charts. He also released the singles ‘Ginger‘, ‘Ring My Line‘ featuring Headie One, and ‘Chop Life‘ featuring Patoranking.

King Promise was signed to the record label Legacy Life Entertainment, which is managed by Gervin Ohene Addo. Currently, King Promise is signed to 5K Records, a record label based in the UK, in partnership with Sony Music UK. The 5K Records and Sony Music UK has help him gain more traffic internationally.

Currently, he has released an album titled ‘True To Self‘. The album features several stars such as FAVE, Fridayy, Gabzy, LADIPOE, Lasmid, Olivetheboy, Sarkodie, and Shallipopi.
