Kofi Kinaata’s Early Life and Education

Martin King Arthur famously known as Kofi Kinaata aka “Fante Rap God” is a Ghanaian musician and songwriter born on April 15, 1990, in Effiakum – Takoradi, Ghana. He attended his basic school at Nana Brempong Yaw and secondary school at Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), where he studied Building and Construction.

Kofi Kinaata was born into a Christian and humble family home. The names of his parent are Mr. Charles King Arthur and Miss Mary Arthur. The dad (Mr. Charles King Arthur) was a pastor and initially, did not like the idea of Kinaata singing these highlife and rap. And this is because he didn’t want anyone to talk bad about him since he is a pastor. But eventually, he agreed and motivated Kofi Kinaata in his hard work.

Music Career

In an interview sighted by Tunebeatz.com, Kofi said, people started noticing him after secondary school when he participated in the singing competition “Kasahari” at Melody FM in 2009. He continued to release tracks underground within that year.

Later, people got to know him better due to his unique Fante style of rap, which blends Highlife and Hiplife genres. Kofi Kinaata’s hard work caught the attention of Samini, who later signed him to his record label, High-Grade Family in 2013. The Fante Rap God, Kofi Kinaata, released his hit song “Susuka” in 2015, which became a massive breakthrough for him. The song “Susuka” was nominated for the Songwriter of the Year at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Lo and behold, he won the award for Songwriter of the Year at VGMA in Ghana.

In 2016, Kofi Kinaata released another banger titled “Made in Taadi” which also gained him a lot of popularity. According to Kofi, the song “Made in Taadi” jams most Fante people due to the link to their famous annual festival called “Ankos”, which happens every December 24 in Takoradi. He continued to release hit songs like “Confession” which earned him an award in the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
